Singapore To JB By BUS

FROM SINGAPORE TO JOHOR BAHRU :

Johor Bahru is the first destination of Malaysia and border of Singapore!

From Kranji to Woodlands Checkpoints/Singapore Immigration :

Take a bus service 160 or 170 or CW 1 from Kranji MRT (Mass Rapid Transit Train) station, which is on the red MRT line called North south line. Always there is a big "Q" standing for these 3 bus services especially peak hours. Starting around 8.30pm would be an ideal time if you intend to reach Kualalumpur by early morning.

Once you finish Singapore immigration procedures at woodlands checkpoint, take the same bus service to resume your journey to avoid any additional ticket charges. For SBS Transit Buses (160 & 170), you can either use cash (No change given) or Ezlink card (Integrated transport rechargeable card-Usually, fares are lesser than paying by cash).

Note : SBS & SMRT buses are singapore based buses. Causeway Link (CW) is a Malaysian based bus. Besides these transports, there is a terminal at Singapore's queens street (Near Bugis MRT station) especially serve buses/taxis to Malaysia. Also buses to Johor bahru is widely available from different destinations/terminals of Singapore (Jurong East MRT/Interchange, Yishun, Newton, Woodlands etc.,) with less frequency of services when compare to Kranji MRT station.

From Woodlands Checkpoint to Malaysian Immigration :

The next destination is Malaysian Immigration Complex where you have to finish your immigration to enter Malaysia. Once you clear the immigration, now you have two choices to take buses to Larkin Bus Terminal (Which is the central Bus terminals for Johor Bahru city). Either you can take same bus service which would be available few meters after the Malaysian immigration clearance under the same roof of the immigration complex or can walk to the JB Sentral and can take a bus service to Larkin bus terminals. The buses outside JB Immigration/customs complex are marked with "LARKIN". The buses are available at JB Sentral ground floor or in front of JB City square shopping center which is walk-able distance from JB Sentral. JB Sentral is also the railway station for JB which serves to Kualalumpur line by KTM Intercity trains. The KTM ticket counter is available at the upper level of JB sentral complex. For more information about KTM Intercity trains, please click the link to chek my other blog about KTM Intercity trains. KTM Intercity Trains to Kualalumpur-Click Here

    1. Hi suguna,

JB central is just few minutes walk-able distance from JB immigration. Anyhow since AC7 bus is terminated at Kotaraya II terminal, so still its pass-by JB sentral. There is a stop behind JB sentral mall (Plz let tthe driver knows early, else they wont stop). Hope this info can clarify your question. Some additional information are below for your reference.

Fare : SG to JB S$2 and return S$2 or RM2 depends on your payment mode through cash or through ez-link card.

      Operating hours for service AC7:
      From Yishun Interchange:
      0545 – 2330 hours (Mon-Sat), 0600 – 2330 hours (Sun & P.H.)
      From Kotaraya II Terminal:
      0500 – 2350 hours (Mon-Sat), 0540 – 2350 hours (Sun & P.H.)

    2. You have two options,
      1. After pass the malaysian customs, you can walk all the way to railway station by looking the sign board "JB sentral". Railway station is visible when you walk through the escalators. The approximate walking time is about 10mins to reach the railway station. The station is literally in the same customs building with a road separating the station and malaysian customs, both are connected by pedestrian over pass.
      2. Second option, you can take the 950 or 160/170 heading to kotaraya (Not going Larkin) and alight at the next stop which is railway station. It is advisable to board singapore bus (SBS/SMRT), as these busses wont stop (Not allowed to stop) any where except railway station/JB sentral stop before it reaches the destination kotaraya terminal. So as soon as you board in the bus, you can press the stop button and relaxly sit and wait for your stop to arrive.

Hope this info is sufficient for you!

  5. Thanks Aaron for your reply!

Does that mean that option 2 is better in that the bus 950 brings me right to the railway station without having to walk? I presume the ride from the customs to the next stop at JB Sentral is a very short one too?

    1. It would be a long queue standing for all the buses heading to JB especially during weekends. Once you have boarded the bus, depends on the traffic condition, travelling time may vary between 40 to 120mins. Sometimes the traffic is horrible during long weekends! It is advisable to go day/weekdays to avoid congestions
